Pat is a San Josean and small business owner who oversees a mixed-use historic landmark property in San Jose. Previously she worked for the University of Washington Office of Global Affairs and lived in Chengdu, China, for close to 7 years. Pat speaks Mandarin, and she met her wife, Michelle Zhang, at the oldest known lesbian bar in China in 2012. Together they’ve been deeply involved in advocating for the visibility and acceptance of LGBTQ people, including live-streaming their wedding reception to a large audience across China and joining the Global Pride 2020 organizing team. A short film about their story was viewed by more than 5 million people in mainland China. They have continued their LGBTQ advocacy with the local Chinese immigrant community throughout the Bay Area. Pat is a member of the San Jose chapter of Rotary International and serves on the board of The Alameda Business Association. In her free time she enjoys attending local arts, community, and political events.
